Gianni Motti is a Swiss conceptual artist known for blurring the boundaries between art, politics and everyday life. Often working through interventions, performances and symbolic gestures, he inserts himself into real-world situations—from institutions to public events—to question power, authorship and the role of the artist. His provocative and often humorous works invite audiences to reconsider what art can be and where it can happen.

Opening during the Nuit des Bains, Thursday 12 March, 18:00

14 November 2025 – 28 February

For his first solo exhibition in Geneva, Gregor Hildebrandt transforms Galerie Mezzanin into a poetic space of memory and transformation. Using materials such as magnetic tape, vinyl records, and audio cassettes, he reinterprets the physical traces of the analog world, turning familiar forms into sculptural and pictorial works. His installations evoke themes of transfer, nostalgia, and the fragility of memory, reminding us that remembrance once had a tangible medium. Balancing irony and reverence, Hildebrandt questions the role of the artist in an age dominated by digital reproduction, suggesting that art now resides not in direct representation of reality, but in the layered density of collective memory and desire.

Opening: Thursday November 13, 18:00 – 21:00

18 September – 8 November

This exhibition pairs two Austrian artists who transform industrial materials into contemporary sculpture through different approaches.

Hans Kupelwieser creates works that blur two and three dimensions, using unconventional materials to simulate non-existent functions while exploring the linguistic possibilities of sculptural form.

Rudolf Polanszky removes industrially produced materials from their original contexts, preserving traces of their previous use to create new fields of meaning in his mural works. Both artists challenge traditional sculptural constraints by liberating materials from predetermined purposes, demonstrating how contemporary art transcends disciplinary boundaries through “functional illusions” that appear purposeful yet open rich territories for contemplating form, process, and artistic meaning.

Opening during the Nuit des Bains, Wednesday 17 September, 17:00 – 20:00.

Friday 17 October, 18:00
Galerie Mezzanin hosts an exclusive talk with Marc-Olivier Wahler, director of the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (MAH). The discussion will unfold within the context of the gallery’s current exhibition showcasing works by Austrian artists Hans Kupelwieser and Rudolf Polanszky, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage with one of Geneva’s leading cultural figures while experiencing contemporary artistic dialogue between these two distinctive creative voices.
