Presenting his new Being Matters series, the solo exhibition explores memory, thought and the human psyche through seven large-scale oil paintings and a selection of smaller works. Layered, organic and introspective, the works transform the canvas into a living record of gesture, experimentation and memory.

Ferdinand Hodler: Profession of Faith examines for the first time the spiritual dimension in the work of Ferdinand Hodler (1853–1918). Through some twenty-five paintings, the exhibition traces his youthful biblical readings, his rare biblical scenes, and his relation to the Reformation and the city of Geneva. It also considers how notions of creation and the order of nature informed his symbolist language and his meditative landscapes, revealing the interplay between religious themes and formal concerns in his painting.

Permanent exhibition

Objects tell stories here — about people, beliefs, traditions, and the way cultures meet. The MEG draws on collections from around the world, while also asking timely questions about where museum objects come from and how their stories should be told today.

16 March – 14 November

Dany Gignoux (photographer) and poet Georges Haldas present a compelling dialogue between documentary photography and lyrical prose. The exhibition brings together photographs and written fragments that register everyday life in Geneva’s cafés, combining on-the-spot reportage with memory-infused “prose inspirée.” Through intimate black-and-white images and spare, evocative texts the works transfigure mundane scenes into poetic testimony, revealing social undercurrents and human tenderness. Archival materials frame this historic encounter between two generations of cultural chroniclers.

7 – 18 October

Echo Chamber is an immersive, interactive and participatory exhibition that probes self-image and perception. Housed in a contained space, it stages a sequence of installations and collaborative artworks that invite visitors to engage, modify and reflect on representations of identity. The show extends into a virtual environment, using audiovisual and sensor-driven elements to examine how images circulate, transform and are interpreted—raising questions about gaze, agency and consent in contemporary visual culture.

24 April – 3 January

An extensive survey assembled from a long-standing research collection devoted to glass, this exhibition takes a contemporary look at a millennia-old material. Over two hundred glass and mixed-media works, including sculptural objects, design pieces and installations, testify to a transdisciplinary experimental spirit. Featuring artists such as Ettore Sottsass, Pierre Charpin, Betty Woodman, Bob Wilson, Giuseppe Penone, Jana Sterbak and James Lee Byars, the show examines materiality, technique and the porous boundaries between craft, design and contemporary art.
