Ensevelir et se souvenir presents social and cultural histories framed around the Plainpalais cemetery, offering a renewed perspective on Geneva’s past. Published through a civic and academic collaboration, the book assembles archival research and essays that recover forgotten biographies, highlight women long rendered invisible, and examine funerary rites and collective memory. The volume investigates how death shapes public narratives and civic identity. Complementary artistic performances accompany the book’s reflections, giving voice to select historical figures.

Designed for emerging professionals and recent graduates, this workshop explores puppetry through the creation of a short performance. Four to five young artists are supported through a guided process from idea to stage, with mentorship in direction, dramaturgy and construction. A member of the New York Academy of Sciences and professor honoris causa at UniFMU, she lectures internationally and hosts the PodPeople podcast. In this immersive talk she examines ADHD, anxiety and depression, linking research to everyday life to reveal practical approaches for balance and mental well‑being.

This interactive memory challenge invites participants to test their memory while exploring practical ways to preserve biodiversity based on Geneva’s municipal strategy. Players match “before-and-after” images that illustrate individual and institutional actions, and each correct pair reveals concise information explaining the measure. The activity examines themes such as habitat restoration, species-friendly practices, urban greening and policy responses, helping participants understand the impact and rationale behind everyday and organisational conservation choices.

28 January – 23 December

This workshop explores the traditional process of assembling a herbarium specimen, inspired by Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s collections. Participants learn scientific techniques for pressing and mounting dried plants on old paper, practice botanical labelling and nomenclature, and select specimens to create a personal herbarium sheet. The session examines preservation methods, identification principles and the historical context of Rousseau’s approach, combining practical skills with scientific insight to produce a lasting botanical object.

Reserved for previous participants of the Grand Chantier, this workshop deepens marionette staging and performance practice. Facilitated by Chine Curchod and Joël Hefti. Using puppets supplied by the TMG and excerpts from classical and contemporary texts, participants will investigate spatial composition, scenographic devices and dramaturgy, and refine ensemble manipulation and character work. The atelier emphasizes practical exercises, collective exploration and staged fragments to advance technical control and theatrical storytelling.

Jean-Pierre Cabestan, research director emeritus at the CNRS and professor emeritus at Hong Kong Baptist University, presents his analysis of Taiwan and its relations with China. He examines Taiwan’s political divisions, the population’s attachment to the status quo and its democratic institutions, and the island’s economic strengths beyond semiconductors. Cabestan also discusses Taiwan’s cultural soft power—notably literature and cinema—and evaluates strategic dynamics between Beijing and Washington that will shape Taiwan’s future.
