The Art of Illustrating the History of Plan-les-Ouates

Anna Tosello Liatti presents works by participants of her Drawing and Pastel and Mixed Techniques courses that reimagine the history of Plan‑les‑Ouates. Charcoal drawings, pastel landscapes, paintings and monotype experiments depict historical figures, sporting and occupational scenes, and still lifes of old and modern objects. The exhibition weaves personal and collective memory using observational technique and painterly composition to evoke local narratives, question how everyday activities shape communal identity, and celebrate the visual traces of a community’s past.

Seventeenth-century painter Hendrick Bloemaert explores how antiquity shaped Dutch visual culture. Through oil on canvas portraits and history scenes, Bloemaert merges classical myth with striking realism, balancing idealised themes and everyday detail. His mastery of light, texture and fine draughtsmanship reflects the dynamism of the Dutch Golden Age, where artists reinterpreted ancient subjects to probe human character, moral reflection and pictorial innovation.

12 March – 20 June

May 1972 is an exhibition dedicated to Salvatore Emblema (Naples, 1929–2006), bringing together works produced between the late 1960s and the early 1980s. Across paintings, sculptures and installations, Emblema refines a conceptual language that interrogates materiality, form and temporality. The presentation highlights his experimental use of found materials, assemblage and reductive gestures, situating these works within postwar Italian avant‑garde practices and the artist’s evolving exploration of spatial and epistemic limits.

5 March – 16 May

Canadian-French artist Sylvie Lambert (b. 1984, Montréal) presents her first solo exhibition, unveiling a new body of work produced predominantly since 2025. Through layered painting, sculptural assemblage and immersive installations, Lambert investigates materiality, perception and the boundary between representation and objecthood. Her practice combines painterly gestures, found materials and discreet colour studies to interrogate memory, embodiment and the politics of surface, inviting sustained attention to texture, scale and fragile systems of meaning.
