FIFDH: A Fox Under a Pink Moon

Shaped by Soraya’s mobile-phone recordings, this intimate documentary follows a sixteen-year-old Afghan artist over five years as she attempts to flee Iran to join her mother in Austria. Blending handheld video, animation, drawings and sculpture, the film maps a journey of escape, song and improvised dance. It examines courage, gendered violence and the creative impulse as survival, rendered in raw textures and lyrical fragments. The result is a porous, sensory portrait of resistance and artistic self-creation.

In Persian/Dari/Turkish (original version), with French subtitles.

Screening followed by a discussion with filmmakers Mehrdad Oskouei & Soraya Akhlaghi.

Olivier Azam and Daniel Mermet revisit Howard Zinn’s life and work in a striking archival film that stitches together testimonies, documents and historical fragments. Anchored in Zinn’s committed Marxism, the film amplifies voices long excluded from official narratives—enslaved people, Indigenous communities and labor activists—tracing five centuries of struggle. With textured archival frames, a contemplative rhythm and polemical undertow, it reframes public memory and probes how history becomes a battleground for political imagination.

Followed by a discussion with co-director Daniel Mermet.
In partnership with the Maison de l’Histoire.

Co-authors Frédéric Wilner and Moataz Madi helm a probing documentary that follows the University of Geneva’s archaeological mission at Saqqâra. Their camera traces the unearthing of a tomb attributed to the vizier Ouni, raising questions about its ownership and purpose. The film blends measured investigative pacing with textured imagery of dust, stone and inscription, exploring themes of memory, legacy and the politics of archaeological narrative. Intimate interviews and revelatory finds create a contemplative, suspenseful atmosphere that foregrounds the human stories behind ancient monuments.

Curated as a cycle of five short works by Pauline Curnier Jardin, Maria Klonaris and Katherina Thomadaki, Laure Prouvost, Mathilde Rosier and Josèfa Ntjam, Anti-Nymphs stages feminist rereadings of Greco‑Roman myths. These video essays and experimental shorts foreground body metamorphosis—gender, age and vegetal transformations—centering non‑conforming female bodies that unsettle dominant imaginaries. Textural imagery, fragmentary rhythms and tactile close-ups create a liminal, often uncanny atmosphere. The program proposes a subversive mythography that remaps ancient figures through contemporary, bodily poetics.
