Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri: Master of the Western Desert

This exhibition pays tribute to Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, a seminal figure of Australian Aboriginal art and a pioneer of the Western Desert painting movement. Drawing on Dreaming stories and the ancestral landscapes of his Anmatyerre heritage, Possum translated traditional sand and body painting motifs into monumental canvases that intertwine myth, geography and memory. His richly patterned, large-scale works balance Indigenous cosmology with a striking sense of modern abstraction, affirming his lasting influence on global contemporary art.

Opening during the Nuit des Bains, Thursday 22 January, from 18:00.

37-39 rue des Bains,

Fertile Hybridations explores the many forms of encounters and interweavings between humans, non-humans, knowledge systems, and temporalities.
Visitors are invited to inhabit the space, to question, to connect with these artist-researchers and designers, and—like them—to attempt to engage in dialogue and move beyond anthropocentrism, the idea that humans are at the center of everything. Instead, the exhibition encourages recognizing forms of intelligence or agency in other species, and building new relationships and exchanges.
Through this evolving exhibition, enriched by the intersection of art, design, and science, HiFlow becomes a living laboratory—a space for fertile alliances…

Artist Maëva Weissen presents a collaborative exhibition of handmade flags created by pupils and apprentices from the DIP through guided creative workshops. Using recovered textiles and artisanal techniques, the works interrogate national symbols, folklore and textile know‑how to probe questions of Swiss identity and its coexistence with multiple cultural roots in Geneva. The pieces combine textile craft, assemblage and photography to reflect on adolescence, belonging and the environmental footprint of the fashion industry.

16 March – 17 October

Dany Gignoux (photographer) and poet Georges Haldas present a compelling dialogue between documentary photography and lyrical prose. The exhibition brings together photographs and written fragments that register everyday life in Geneva’s cafés, combining on-the-spot reportage with memory-infused “prose inspirée.” Through intimate black-and-white images and spare, evocative texts the works transfigure mundane scenes into poetic testimony, revealing social undercurrents and human tenderness. Archival materials frame this historic encounter between two generations of cultural chroniclers.

12 March – 8 May

Out of the Blue brings together Norwegian ceramicist Heidi Bjørgan and textile artist Kari Dyrdal in a sustained dialogue between ceramics and woven textiles. Bjørgan reworks familiar jug and vessel archetypes until they appear melted or imploded, using multiple firings and distinctive glazes to expose cracks, shifts and unpredictable reactions. Dyrdal examines memory, pattern and structure through handwoven, hand‑dyed pieces that marry traditional craft with digital processes, yielding tactile and conceptual depth.

Opening during Nuit des Bains, Thursday 12 March, 18:00.

20 April – 8 May

Furious Thinking presents works by Bachelor students from HEAD Genève’s Chroma option, examining the origins of their emerging artistic practice. Blurred memories, endless archives, accumulated collections and the ceaseless image feed converge in a room-like installation of personal effects: mutant PEZ, bigfoot slippers, jewellery, dice, cakes, a bed and stacked plastic chairs, alongside politics, family, distant mountain chants and a few monsters. The exhibition functions as exercise, rehearsal and edition, probing how images wound, soothe and shape authorship beyond the canvas.

Opening : Friday, April 17, 18:00 – 21:00.
Closing : Friday, May 8, 16:00 – 18:00 pm, including a listening session with Henry Rausch. In French

Joël Alessandra presents a personal exhibition of travel sketches and drawings gathered from journeys in Chad, Saudi Arabia and Mauritania, framed around his recent album “Déserts, dans l’infini des extrêmes”. The presentation includes nearly forty original pages from the graphic novel Les Voyages d’Ibn Battûta, as well as works created for Je est un autre and La Force des femmes. For this project the artist made new drawings of Carouge reproduced as postcards in partnership with the city.
