FILMAR: Screening & Discussion – A melhor mãe do mundo

The FILMAR Festival presents “A melhor mãe do mundo” by Anna Muylaert at Cinémas du Grütli, in collaboration with Agenda 21 – November 25 campaign. Set in Brazil and Argentina in 2025, the film tells the story of Gal, a brave mother escaping her violent husband with her two children as they navigate São Paulo. Featuring powerful performances, including Shirley Cruz, this film is a tribute to maternal determination and love. Screenings will be followed by discussions and Q&A sessions with actress Shirley Cruz and representatives from Agenda 21.

September 2025 – June 2026

LES SŒURS LUMIÈRE, the feminist film club of the Bibliothèque Filigrane, returns to Les Cinémas du Grütli with a cycle of six screenings from September 2025 to June 2026. Dedicated to the courtroom drama, this new edition offers a feminist re-reading of the genre, highlighting the challenges women face when confronted with moral and repressive orders.

Having transitioned from his role as a professor of Chinese studies, he now focuses on his writings, blending scholarly precision with educational clarity. His work delves into the texts of Zhuangzi, Chinese calligraphy, and critiques Chinese history. “New Sketches” expands on his reflections regarding the current critical state, promoting a revolution in thought. This event offers an opportunity to discuss his career as a sinologist, philosopher, and historian, championing the spirit of the Enlightenment.

10 – 14 November

The 2025 Human Rights Week, organized by the Global Studies Institute at the University of Geneva, focuses on defending the rule of law through a diverse and thought-provoking program. Bridging law, political science, and history, the initiative explores contemporary challenges to the rule of law, including the concentration of executive power, weakening of checks and balances, and questions over the legitimacy of constitutional and supranational courts.

With the participation of students and institutional partners, the week offers around twenty events that invite reflection, debate, and action on legal, institutional, and civic tools to preserve and strengthen the rule of law at both national and European levels.
