This interactive and playful performance / workshop explores economic sciences through food, turning everyday grocery items into elements of a life-size board game. Over 5,000 years of history, trade, and economic systems are brought to life, using food to tell the story—from sharing an auroch to the first edible currency in Mesopotamia (barley), and the purchase of natural resources during the rise of agro-industry.
Through engaging stories, children and parents alike will learn how economics, unlike hard sciences, is shaped by beliefs and choices. The conference offers an opportunity to challenge preconceived notions and better understand the world around us, with fun analogies like sardine cans as tankers and rice grains as Roman legionnaires.
