Ulysse Loup large ensemble

Bassist-composer Ulysse Loup unveils his new album “0°W”, inspired by Arthur Rimbaud’s poem “Le Bateau ivre”. Accompanied by a ten-piece ensemble, the album merges surrealist text with contemporary jazz to evoke a dreamlike transatlantic journey. With interwoven rhythms, marine textures, and diverse instruments, it immerses the listener in a world of sea spray and distant dreams. The album will be released under the Swiss label Unit Records.

Jean-Luc Hervé presents “Sombre / Topos – Musical Salon with a Population of Sound Animals” in collaboration with Utopiana and the University of Geneva. This innovative project features sound broadcasts, performances, and a seminar. Hervé explores the interplay between music and the environment by positioning sound sources throughout a house, crafting a natural polyphony that mimics animal populations. The performances, woven into this soundscape, gradually evolve and separate, forming an independent “sound population” that remains even after the performers have exited.

Following Napoleon’s defeat, Talleyrand and Fouché meet in Paris to determine France’s future—whether it will be a republic or a monarchy. During a private dinner, they engage in a heated debate: Fouché advocates for the republic, while Talleyrand aims to restore the Bourbons, requiring Fouché’s support. The evening is filled with revelations and confrontations against a backdrop of external turmoil.

Actor Samuel Labarthe turns Nicolas Bouvier’s fever-drenched memoir The Scorpion-Fish into a hypnotic, miniaturist tour de force: marooned in 1950s Ceylon after a headlong road trip from Geneva through the Balkans and Afghanistan, the once-ebullient traveller spirals into tropical delirium, trading human company for buzzing insects, mirage-bright visions and mordant humour that flits between the sublime and the grotesque. Under Catherine Schaub’s finely gauged direction, Labarthe channels both the lush lyricism and the slow-burn torment of this “motionless voyage,” distilling Bouvier’s languid prose into a tactile, rejuvenating elixir that lets the audience feel every bead of sweat, jolt of wonder and sting of isolation.
