Side Quest for the Real

The Art, Play & Society Biennale returns to Le Commun with “Side Quest for the Real.” Organized by Christian Bili and Samuel Wagen-Magnon, this second edition explores social themes through Live Action Role-Playing (LARP). The exhibition features original works complemented by screenings, workshops, lectures, and discussions with artists and researchers. Guided tours and interactive workshops offer an immersive experience into LARP practices. The event encourages the public to explore, reflect, and engage in playful discovery.

Sarah Benslimane, winner of the Manor Cultural Prize 2025, takes over the Palais de l’Athénée with a major exhibition. A French-Algerian artist based in Geneva, she creates paintings and sculptures that mirror the flow of images and stories from the digital age. Every month, the Botanical Garden showcases a treasure from its collections through an audio commentary, accessible both at the library and on social media. These gems, which include engravings, rare books, objects, or archival letters, are enriched with insights from a librarian or archivist.

31 October 2025 – 10 January 2026

The exhibition showcases the works of the Geneva Photography Survey laureates from 2019, 2020, and 2021, focusing on the theme of mobility. A collaboration between the Geneva Library and the Geneva Photography Center, it highlights pieces by Zoé Aubry, Gabriela Löffel, and Laurence Rasti. Their projects explore the movement of people, the structuring of migratory flows, and bodily transformations, providing a critical perspective on migration policies and societal pressures.

16 May – 4 January

The MEG, Musée d’ethnographie de Genève, showcases the immersive exhibition Afrosonica – Paysages sonores, which delves into the significance of music and sound in African societies and their diasporas. Featuring instruments, sound archives, and contemporary installations, the exhibition highlights the ability of sound to communicate, connect, convey knowledge and emotions, and evoke memories.

La Galerie 38 Genève is hosting Ines-Noor Chaqroun’s first solo exhibition in Geneva, titled ORBIS VITAE. This exhibition offers an immersive experience into a vibrant pictorial world that blends nature with the feminine essence in subtle harmony. The artist utilizes circular forms and organic textures to convey a dynamic, life-giving energy.
