Milanese Symphony

This concert celebrates the birth of the concert symphony as a distinct musical genre, which emerged in Milan around 1730, a time when the city was a thriving hub of instrumental music. Under the direction of internationally renowned baroque violinist Enrico Gatti, students from the HEM perform symphonies and instrumental works by Milanese composers such as Giovanni Battista, Giuseppe Sammartini, Antonio Brioschi, and others active in the Lombard capital.
