MiASiN! is an all-female group comprising five musicians from Turkey, Armenia, and France. In 2023, they embarked on a road trip from Yerevan through Turkey. They share instruments and repertoires as a common heritage of humanity, embodying the essence of MiASiN!. The concert is supported by the Ateliers d’Ethnomusicologie, AMR, the City of Geneva, and the South Cultural Fund.

Carac is UNIGE’s new cultural festival, showcasing a month of student creations that include theater, dance, concerts, film, arts and crafts workshops, games, and an exhibition. It’s a vibrant month-long celebration of artistic discovery and festivity, organized by university troupes and associations.
The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, conducted by Bertrand de Billy, presents Messiaen’s Turangalîla-Symphonie with Kit Armstrong on piano and Cécile Lartigau on ondes Martenot.
The OSR first performed Olivier Messiaen’s “Turangalîla-Symphonie” in a memorable concert in 1981, conducted by Horst Stein and the composer himself attending all rehearsals – a significant event then, this symphonic gem remains an extraordinary experience. This grand love song unfolds in ten movements, featuring a sizeable ensemble enhanced with the piano and ondes Martenot. Although labelled a symphony, it’s more like a sinfonia concertante involving all sections of the orchestra, putting a spotlight on the piano, with its challenging part specially tailored for Messiaen’s wife, Yvonne Loriod. The vibrant composition dazzles with a myriad of colors, drawing influence from the oriental gamelans that fueled Messiaen’s creativity.
Vir Andres Hera’s performance, “The sacred, without world,” featuring Jona Bruixet and Maya Zaton, draws inspiration from Marlene NourbeSe Philip’s poem “Zong!” to explore poetic realms and semantic chaos. The artists craft a collective narrative interweaving multiple temporalities, drawing elements from carnival, oceans, ballrooms, and seismographs. This piece aims to give voice to the dead, engage in dialogue with them, and challenge historical documents that oppress marginalized and colonized peoples. It unfolds within the residency “IT’S ABOUT TIME” by Thomas Conchou at the MAH.
Danyèl Waro, the iconic voice of Réunion Island’s maloya music, brings his powerful blend of rhythm and poetry to Château Rouge. Known for his commitment to Creole culture and social justice, Waro’s performances are both energetic and deeply moving. Accompanied by traditional instruments like the kayanm and roulèr, he delivers songs that resonate with themes of resistance, identity, and heritage. This concert offers a rare opportunity to experience the soul of maloya live on stage.
