Farnace, a three-act opera and one of Antonio Vivaldi’s most powerful and moving works, blends political intrigue, family passion, and intimate drama. Composed in 1727 for the Venice Carnival, it reaches emotional heights with the aria Gelido in ogni vena. This new production by the ensemble I Gemelli, conducted by Emiliano Gonzalez Toro, features the rare 1731 version with the title role sung by a tenor. With a top-tier cast and 34 performers on stage, the opera brings to life a gripping tragedy that ultimately calls for reconciliation and nobility of spirit.
