Entepfuhl is a dance solo by Alina Arshi, an Indian Muslim woman who has lived in multiple countries, including the Middle East, Belgium, and Switzerland. Her life, shaped by multiculturalism and a constant feeling of being an outsider, serves as a starting point for a broader exploration of one’s relationship to territory. In this piece, Arshi examines the frictions created by multiple and sometimes contradictory identities, mapping out the experience of displacement and attempting to understand what constitutes a sense of home.
Following Entepfuhl, workpiece is a solo performance by Lithuanian dancer and choreographer Anna-Marija Adomaityte. Inspired by her time working in a fast food restaurant and interviews with former colleagues, Adomaityte presents the mechanized, repetitive movements of a woman on a conveyor belt under harsh neon lights. The piece explores the tensions placed on the body in the modern work environment, portrayed with sharp, cold precision, enhanced by the sound and lighting design of Gautier Teuscher.
