Explore the fascinating world of Jean Tinguely with your family at the Musée Rath. Enjoy an hour-long tour to admire his animated machines, mesmerizing drawings, and surprising creations.

To mark the 100th anniversary of Jean Tinguely’s birth, the MAH celebrates the artist’s deep ties to the museum with a vibrant tribute. A restored kinetic sculpture—Si c’est noir, je m’appelle Jean (1960)—takes center stage, joined by a major donation of graphic works from the Niki Charitable Art Foundation. Echoing the spirit of Tinguely’s last exhibition at the Musée Rath in 1983, the show features over thirty mechanical sculptures and rarely seen works on paper, many connected to Geneva’s cultural history.

FMAC

“Visible” is an exhibition curated by Danniel Tostes and Lari Medawar as part of the FMAC 2025 residency, spotlighting women, queer, racialized, disabled, and immigrant artists who are often underrepresented in art history. Engaging with the FMAC’s collection alongside invited Geneva artists, the exhibition offers new narratives, reimagining the future of artistic fields. It promotes intergenerational dialogue through works produced over the past 80 years and aims to amplify overlooked voices, presenting an inclusive and diverse perspective on contemporary Geneva art. Featuring artists include Omar Ba, Fabiana De Barros, Geraldo De Barros, Mariano Blatt and Eduardo Williams, Miriam Cahn, Edi Dubien, Renée Green, Chris Kauffmann, Stéphan Landry, eden levi am, Shahryar Nashat, Sima Naemi, Pipilotti Rist, Sabrina Renlund, Jonas Van & Juno B, and Gemma Ushengewe.

For over three decades, Ullrich has been blurring the line between painting and sculpture. His “sculptural structures” in painted steel challenge gravity and reshape our perception of space with their interplay of shadows and perspectives. These wall-mounted reliefs appear to float, delivering a dynamic visual experience. His work, showcased widely on the international stage, will soon be honored with retrospectives at the Museum Ritter and the Museum für Konkrete Kunst.

Giovanni Pizzo: Sign Gestalt

Lovay Fine Arts showcases historical works by Giovanni Pizzo, a key figure in the 1960s Arte Programmata movement. These ten pieces from the Sign-Gestalt series (1962) focus on algorithmic structures and visual rhythms, highlighting Pizzo’s distinctive language of serial abstraction. This exhibition, a collaboration with the Archivio di Luciano Pizzo in Rome, brings these unseen works back to the public for the first time in forty years.

The exhibition “More Poetry is Needed” unites four artists who use text as both poetic and visual material: Laure Marville, Hadrien Dussoix, Robert Montgomery, and Peter Wüthrich. It conveys an urgent call for poetry. Laure Marville’s vibrant works bring the voices of Corinna Bille and Alice Rivaz to life as flags, while Hadrien Dussoix channels the spirit of rock. Robert Montgomery captures the committed poetry of the post-modern era and Peter Wüthrich illustrates how literature can serve as an antidote. In Geneva, Wüthrich engages with passersby by photographing them with an open book on their back, continuing his series “Angels of the World.”
