Collaborative Research, Exhibitions, and Restitutions
Carine Ayélé Durand is a social anthropologist who earned her PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2010. After an initial experience at the African Museum in Verona, Italy, she began her career in 2001 at the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle in Lyon, now the Musée des Confluences. Since then, she has focused on studying collaborations between European museums and indigenous peoples. She has held various roles as a curator, researcher, and cultural heritage consultant in France, the UK, Sweden, and Spain. From 2015 to 2022, she served as Chief Curator of the Musée d’Ethnographie in Geneva (MEG), and has been its Director since July 2022.
