Children’s Festival

The 11th Children’s Festival at the Maison de quartier de Plainpalais is set to delight both young and old with an enchanting lineup that includes four musical tales, a surprise film, and a concert featuring 17th-century music. The festival showcases puppets, shadow theater, ancient instruments, large-scale puppetry, illustrations, and songs, offering children a wonderful introduction to art and beauty.

The FMAC is hosting Godzillab for a two-week creative workshop series tailored for kids.  Led by Estelle Germain, Fred Fivaz, and Kleio Obergfell-Thomaïdes, children will have the opportunity to design and craft giant monster posters for the FMAC’s exterior or create 3D dioramas inspired by extraordinary tales.

This theatrical adaptation, inspired by George Herriman’s renowned comic strip, explores the intriguing love triangle between a cat infatuated with a mouse, a dog smitten with the cat, and a mouse that relishes throwing bricks. Blending poetry and irony, the production gathers a talented cast for a touching and nostalgic experience.

The Centre des Arts showcases a rare selection of Chu Teh-Chun’s works on paper, emphasizing calligraphy and ink. These pieces reflect his profound connection to Chinese roots and spontaneous gestural expression. Designed as an educational experience, the exhibition delves into the artist’s intimacy, his approach to space and movement, and the interplay between ink and material.

15 – 25 May

La Cour des Contes is a captivating oral literature festival that has enchanted the town of Plan-les-Ouates for nearly 30 years, becoming a key event in the French-speaking world. Blending ancient myths with modern issues, the festival offers a rich and diverse program.

While family-friendly tales delight young audiences, the teen/adult program invites reflection and exploration. Highlights include Philippe Imbert’s clever take on princess stereotypes, Jennifer Anderson’s journey through the polar night and Indigenous climate concerns, and Pascal Mitsuru Guéran’s dive into Japan’s mysterious voluntary disappearances in Les évaporés du Japon. With over 50 performances, there’s much more to discover.

3 March – 17 May

Dive into the Arctic waters with an engaging and interactive exhibition by UNIGE, where you can virtually board the Gaia sailboat with Barbara and Thierry Courvoisier. Delve into natural sciences with insights into navigation, natural phenomena, and Arctic wildlife.

For the Museum Night at MEG, immerse yourself in tales and legends with a dance performance by Loubna within the temporary exhibition. Loubna takes you on a sensory journey inspired by gnawa music and amapiano, where each movement symbolizes the sharing and preservation of musical heritage.
