Aušrinė Stundytė, the extraordinary Lithuanian soprano, returns this season with a remarkable recital centered around Arnold Schönberg’s monodrama Erwartung (Expectation). In this intense 1909 work, a nameless woman waits in the forest, tormented by jealousy, fear, and ultimately descending into madness. Stundytė, known for her powerful performances in productions like Lady Macbeth of Mzensk and Elektra, will present Erwartung in a semi-staged version that showcases her exceptional vocal and acting abilities. The recital will also feature lieder by Schönberg and his contemporaries from the Second Viennese School.
