Art and Monuments in Public Spaces

This panel discussion will delve into the role of art and public commissions in shaping memory politics. With the rise of decolonial movements and increasing social demands, artistic creation is called to reinvent itself. Experts Michèle Freiburghaus, Mathias Pfund, and Hélène Gerster will engage in a debate about monuments: should they be reimagined, dismantled, or replaced with new ones? Joseph Favre will moderate the discussion, organized by the Interdisciplinary Research Workshop.
